SAFETY

BASICS- 
Always use the handrail as you enter and exit the bus. Secure your seatbelt for safety. To report an emergency or a suspicious package or behavior, tell the operator right away or call 9-1-1.

NIGHT-
To help the driver and other motorists see you better, wear light-colored clothing and carry a reflector or flashlight.

WINTER-
Always bundle up and be prepared for the cold weather, even on the nice days.  Advance notices to dispatchers are greatly appreciated in snowy weather to ensure proper timing of pickups and arrivals.  Be prepared for ice and slush which cause slippery surfaces as you walk up to the bus, and as you step onto the bus.  Take extra precaution by using the handrails to assist you with the stairs.

WHEELCHAIR-
Benzie Bus complies to the required 6 point securement for passengers in wheelchairs. For information on securing wheelchairs, visit www.travelsafer.org or contact umtridocs@umich.edu.
