BENZIE TRANSPORTATION AUTHORITY- PUBLIC NOTICE

The Benzie Transportation Authority is soliciting proposals for engineering services required for the design, documentation, bidding and construction administration for renovation of an existing facility to a Public Transit Facility, and to build an additional garage/maintenance facility.  Proposals must be received in our office located at 12762 Honor Highway, Post Office Box 341, Honor, MI  49640 no later than 2:00 E.S.T. on Friday, July 31, 2009.

Specifications and bid documentation may be obtained at our office Monday – Friday 8:00 to 5:00 p.m. with the exception of July 3, 2009 or by calling (231) 325-3000.  Proposals must be in sealed envelopes, telephone or faxed proposals will not be accepted.  The Benzie Transportation Authority reserves the right to reject any or all proposals, to waive defects, or to accept the proposal which in their opinion are in the best interest of the Benzie Transportation Authority.

The Benzie Transportation Authority is soliciting quotes for services to perform an energy audit.  Vendors must guarantee that services and required documentation will be completed and submitted to the Authority prior to November 9, 2009 to be eligible for consideration. 

Specifications and quote documentation may be obtained at our office Monday – Friday 8:00 to 5:00 p.m. or by calling (231) 325-3000.

Quotes will be accepted in our office located at 12762 Honor Highway, Post Office Box 341, Honor, MI  49640 no later than 1:00 p.m. on Monday, October 26, 2009.

Quotes may be presented via the postal service, in person or faxed.  The Benzie Transportation Authority reserves the right to reject any or all quotes, to waive defects, or to accept the quotes which in their opinion are in the best interest of the  Benzie Transportation Authority.

LEGAL NOTICE PHASE I MAINTENANCE FACILITY FOR BENZIE TRANSPORTATION AUTHORITY
HONOR, MICHIGAN ADVERTISEMENT FOR BIDS
Project No. 2009
The Owner will receive sealed bids for construction and completion of Phase I Maintenance Facility.
Bids are to be addressed to the Benzie Transportation Authority and will be received
until 2:00 p.m., December 23, 2009 at the second floor of the Benzie Government
Building, 448 Court Place, PO Box 377, Beulah, MI 49617, at which time and place all
bids received will be opened and publicly read aloud for general information.
The Work generally includes a 6,600 sq. ft. addition to an existing building. Base Bid
is for a prefabricated steel building with an alternate for wood frame.
Proposals will be received as follows: Lump Sum, Combined Trades.
Plans and Specifications may be obtained from the Architect upon tendering a deposit
of $70.00 per set. The deposit will be applied as a charge only if the Plans and Specifications
are not returned to the Owner intact, in good condition and without marks
within (7) calendar days from the date bids are received.
The proposals shall be submitted on Proposal Forms furnished by the Architect as
part of the Contract Documents, and shall be completely executed in strict accordance
with the Plans and Specifications. Telegraphic or telephonic bids will NOT be received,
accepted or read.

A mandatory Pre-Bid Conference will be held at 2:00 p.m. local time, Dec. 14th at the
project site at 14150 Honor Highway (US-31), Honor, MI at which time questions and
discussions will be entertained regarding the bidding process, alternate construction
methods, owner occupancy, site conditions, and any other matters that are of interest.
It is mandatory that any general contractor submitting a prime bid and all mechanical
and electrical subcontractors submitting their quotes to the prime bidders must attend.
Failure to do so will constitute material non-compliance with the bid conditions.
The bidders list will be established from the sign-in sheet at this conference and no
others will be added. Supplemental conferences will not be held. See also Instruction
to Bidders Visiting the Site.


Construction shall commence on or before January 15, 2010 upon notification by the
Owner of his intent to award a contract.
Surety company bond in the amount of five percent (5%) must accompany all proposals.
No other form of bid security will be accepted.
Successful bidders will be required to furnish surety company performance bond and
labor and material bonds, each in the amount of 100% of the bid.
The Owner reserves the right to reject any or all bids, to accept other than a low bid,
or to waive informalities and irregularities in any or all bids.
Bids shall be accompanied by a sworn and notarized statement disclosing any familial
relationship that exists between the Owner and any employee of the Bidder.
No bid may be withdrawn before the elapse of thirty days (30) after the opening date.
